BCU (British Canoe Union) 2 Star training for Canoe
BCU 2 Star CanoeTraining
Geneva Kayak Center offers 2 separate courses that prepare paddlers for the BCU 2 Star assessment. GKC Level 2 is a kayak based course that covers the kayak elements of the 2 Star syllabus.
The second course that will prepare you for the BCU 2 Star Assessment is this GKC Level 2 Canoe Weekend course. Whether you just want to tune up your canoeing skills for a trip to the Boundary Waters, a run down the Vemillion or become an overall better paddler, the Level 2 Canoe course is for you. Canoeing is also a great cross-training program as there are many things that are easier to learn in the canoe that can then transfer to the kayak.
BCU 2 Star Training/GKC Level 2 is a course you will want to take more than once! It is a weekend of fun and learning that will prepare paddlers for the BCU 2 Star Assessment or just help you become a better paddler even if you never take an assessment.
The canoe course covers a variety of strokes and maneuvers as well as solo and group rescues of canoes.
topics include:
- forward and reverse paddling
- turning the canoe
- moving sideways
- support strokes
- solo & group rescues
- Poling
Cost: $240.00 includes canoes and equipment
