Sharon is a journalist and college professor, She loves to combine her passions for writing, teaching and paddling. Sharon is Co-President of the Chicago Area Sea Kayakers Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Paddling Council. She also teaches for the Chicago Whitewater Association's pool classes and at symposia offered by the West Michigan Coastal Kayakers Association, Inland Sea Society, Great Lakes Sea Kayak Association and Ladies of the Lake. With her husband, Alec, Sharon has co-written articles on paddling and safety for the Prairie State Canoeists' newsletter and Adventure Kayak Magazine. They also maintain the blog "Have Kayaks, Will Travel" and their website.
